Myofascial Release

young brunette female chiropractic adjustment male chiropractor

Advanced Myofascial Release Therapy is an elite manual therapy that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves most commonly caused by overuse or repetitive movements. Overuse injuries can result from repetitive athletic movements (running, golfing, biking, weightlifting, dancing, etc) repetitive occupational demands, static poor posture, or unresolved past injuries. Over-use or repetitive stress causes accumulated micro-traumas which create chronic irritation and decreases oxygen to the tissues. This results in tissues creating micro tears that do not heal properly and lay down dense tough scar tissue. This scar tissue prevents proper tissue movement, and causes muscle to shorten creating the feeling of weakness or an inability to perform once normal activities. Many times, the nerves can get entrapped within the dense scar tissue and creates the sensation of numbness and tingling in the body. This is a sign of a more severe condition that needs more urgent attention. All tendonitis injuries, neck and back pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, IT band syndrome, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with Advanced Myofascial Release Therapy.

What can be expected with an Advanced Myofascial Release Therapy session?

In our office, we focus not on the symptoms, but finding the actual cause of the pain. Every session begins with a history of questions and examination to determine your individual pain generating tissues. We will then perform a biomechanical and posture assessment to determine if there are other factors that may be contributing to your individual problem. The Advanced Myofascial Release provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements. Rehab exercises and dynamic movements are also used during this treatment which adds a unique spin to the traditional technique. Dr. Crosby has determined that challenging the tissues through specific functional movements while performing the therapy increases it’s effectiveness and gets patients back to their normal routines and activities faster and more effectively. If you think Advanced Myofascial Release Therapy may benefit you than please call us to set your appointment today. Dr. Crosby and his staff look forward to helping you become pain free.
