Chiropractic literally means to treat or heal by hand. Chiropractors are trained to determine what tissues are specifically causing your pain or discomfort. There are many different types of chiropractic treatments that can be applied for each individual case. Chiropractors rely primarily on spinal manipulation (also known as "the adjustment"), therapeutic strengthening exercises, and myofascial treatments to reduce tension on the bones, nerves, joints, muscles, and fascia. However, chiropractic is bigger than just treating your pain. It is a positive proactive way of thinking that promotes health and wellness. Chiropractors at Jacksonville Beach Chiropractic are here to assist you as your healthcare doctor. Not your sick care doctor. We promote a healthy lifestyle by assisting you with education and choice on nutrition, exercise, weight loss, and stress reduction issues.
The Doctor of Chiropractic approaches your problem by looking at the body as a whole and focusing on your function. Proper function is related to your ability to move and perform all activities that you wish. Often, back or neck pain can often be a symptom of a problem in the body’s kinetic chain. For example, feet that overly pronate (flat feet) can lead to back pain. The back pain is a symptom of a problem further down the kinetic chain. Poor postures from computers and awkward positions for multiple hours daily can lead to myofascial tightening and fibrosis that can lead to chronic pain and discomfort. Often, there are simple exercises and myofascial treatments that can offset the cumulative damage done from prolonged sitting, and we are happy to show you what you can do for your specific situation. Adjustments to the spine can accelerate the healing process by restoring proper joint movement that become fixated from long hours of static postures.
The term "adjustment" describes a chiropractic treatment. The doctor of chiropractic, either manually or with a specialized instrument, puts motion back into a joints that have become rigid and lost there normal motion. These fixations can in turn create muscle spasm and pain when the surrounding musculature engages to protect an area with improper movement patterns. Humans are built to move, and when we don't we often find that pain is soon to follow.

Chiropractic treatment is, by nature, non-invasive. There are no needles, IV's, surgeries, or any other invasive procedures performed in a chiropractic treatment. Because the doctors are well versed in many different chiropractic techniques, they call upon their knowledge and skill to choose the treatment which will be the most gentle and effective for your condition.
Yes. Its non-surgical, drug-free approach to health care places chiropractic among the safest of all health care professions. Chiropractic takes nothing out of the body and puts nothing in it. As a result, chiropractors enjoy one of the lowest malpractice rates of all health care professionals.
Like all primary health care providers, doctors of chiropractic undergo extensive education and training before becoming licensing professionals. Students begin by fulfilling undergraduate degree requirements, with a strong emphasis on the core sciences such as chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, and physics. Dr. Crosby’s attained his undergraduate degree in Health Sciences – Sports Medicine Track. As a chiropractic student the study of sciences continues, including pathology, orthopedics, neurology, diagnosis, physical examination, x-ray and MRI imaging at a highly detailed level. Doctors of chiropractic refine their technical adjusting skills in technique classes. During clinical internships student doctors perfect these skills. Finally, all doctors of chiropractic must pass the rigorous national board exams and state exams before entering the field.

I am often asked this question by people who I have seen after several visits and have improved dramatically by my care. My answer to this question is always the same and simple. You only need to come when you feel like you need to. When you don’t feel as well as you do right now, come in. There is no hardcore sales pitch in our office, so have no worries. However, I have found that there are several occupations that usually prefer the maintenance preventative approach. For example, my pharmacists, dentists, truck drivers, long term sitting and computer occupations all seem to respond better and have less frequent and intense flare ups when they get care on a regular basis. They have less time lost at work and report that they are more productive. It all depends on the individual.
My experience was great at my first visit. Office was clean. And the staff and doctor were very helpful.
I have been a patient of Dr. Crosby’s for a few years now. I initially went in due to middle back pain caused by scoliosis. I have improved with Atlantic Chiropractic’s adjustments, and with regular treatment have a quality of life with minimal discomfort. I am very satisfied with all of the services that I have received, which include massage therapy also. I definitely recommend this practice if you are looking for a solution for pain management or stiffness.
Aya is amazing! I just can’t say enough about her and her magic hands. I just completed my first TMJ therapy followed by an hour full body massage. She is changing my life for the better in the best way possible. I never knew I could feel this relaxed and actually sleep and wake up with no pain. Thank you Aya and everyone at Atlantic Chiropractic
